Services for Rev. Larry Richard Johnson, 72, of Katy, formerly of Chandler, are scheduled for Friday, February 22, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Faith Baptist Church with Rev. Ted Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Chandler Memorial Cemetery under direction of Chandler Memorial Funeral Home.
Mr. Johnson passed away February 19, 2019 in Sugar Land. He was born January 1, 1947 in Graysville, Alabama to the late Roy Richard Johnson and Johnnie Christine (Morse) Johnson. Ministry was a big part of his life as he served many years as a bivocational pastor and in the prison ministry. He loved to travel to Branson and often took many cruises. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an avid reader.
He is preceded in death by parents; his first wife, Karen Sue Johnson; sister, Teena Gail Johnson; and great grandchild, Hailey Zorbis.
Survivors include wife, Dorothy Boales Johnson of Katy; children, William Larry Johnson and wife Christie of Flint, Richard Lee Johnson and wife Terry of Quinlan, Karen Lynnette Johnson Crawley and husband Steven of Sealy, James Edgar Boales and wife Karen of Rusk, Richard Buel Boales and wife Natalie of Houston; sister, Pat Spruell and husband Ron of Hueytown, Alabama; brother, David Johnson and wife Hazel of Panama City, Florida; 15 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Clint Johnson, Zander Crawley, Cody Boales, Dillon Carver, Paul Carver and Greg Koechel. Honorary pallbearers will be Rylan Crawley, Lee Spruell, Adam Crawley and Kaden Boales.
Visitation will be Thursday, February 21, 2019 from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the American Cancer Society.
