Obituary for Patricia Joan Sweeney (Law)

Memorial services for Patricia “Pat” Law Sweeney will be held at 10am on Monday, September 30, 2019, at Faith Baptist Church, Chandler, Texas. Born July 27, 1932, Pat passed away peacefully September 26, 2019 in Chandler, Texas.

Pat spent her early life in the Beaumont/Houston area with her parents, J.B. and Grace Law. She married Frank Sweeney, an officer and pilot in the United State Air Force and spent the next several years on a grand adventure traveling the country with their five children. Settling in Frankston, Texas, Pat spent her days making a home for her family and friends. Her house was filled with kids, great food, and lots of love and laughter.

As her children grew and left home, Pat moved to Chandler, Texas where she would spend the happiest years of her life surrounded by grandkids and great grands, who knew her as Mamie. She always had a song, a story, or a piece of candy for them in her purse.

Pat was an avid reader, a collector of depression-era glassware, antique furniture, and original watercolor paintings. She was a fabulous cook, passing her love of good food onto her children. She was actively involved in her church, Faith Baptist Church in Chandler, Texas, and never missed her Thursday afternoon 84 games with her dear friends. Pat passed her spirit of adventure and appreciation of everything lovely onto her children and grandchildren. She was a true Southern lady with a streak of sass that endeared her to those around her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, J.B. and Grace Law; her husband, Frank Sweeney; her brothers, Buddy Law and J.B. Law; sisters-in-law, Diane Law and Twinks Hager; and brother-in-law, Bob Hager.

Her memory will be cherished by her adoring children, Frank and Doreen Sweeney; Evie Sweeney House; Billy and Patti Sweeney Fenner; Paul and Cathy Sweeney Carver; and J.B. and Dalia Sweeney. Beloved grandchildren include Wesley and Autumn Fenner; Hannah & Jason Cogan; Terrell Fenner; Kelsey Fenner Calhoun; Clinton House; Ashton House; Dillon and Kandyce Carver; Devin Carver; Victoria, Olivia, Joselyn, A.J., Bryan, and Isabella Sweeney. Great grandchildren include Parker, Addi, Jackson, Bellamy, Jack, Braxton, and Lindleigh.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Chandler Memorial Funeral Home family.
