Obituary for Patricia Lou McGowen (James)
Graveside services for Patricia McGowen, 72, of Chandler, are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at Oaklawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Athens with Dr. Shelby Davidson officiating. Interment will be under the direction of Chandler Memorial Funeral Home.
Mrs. McGowen passed away May 29, 2020 in Chandler, surrounded by her loving family.
Patricia Lou (James) McGowen was born October 24, 1947, the daughter of Lorence Herbert James and Estella Marie (Berry) James. She was a member of the New Beginnings Baptist Church in Ben Wheeler and retired as a volunteer coordinator for the Tyler Police Department. Patricia was an avid bowler, loved to play bingo and enjoyed cooking. She was always on the go and would never meet a stranger. Patricia loved spending time with her grandchildren and will be missed by all those that knew and loved her.
She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Carolyn Lessley and grandson, Dillion McGowen.
Survivors include husband, Fred McGowen of Chandler; children, James McGowen and wife Stacy of Athens and Jerry McGowen and wife Sissy of Chandler; sister, Katie Snyder of Chandler; nine grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter on the way and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 2, 2020 from 5-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Chandler Memorial Funeral Home family.
