Obituary for Nita Joyce Woolverton (Flanagan)
Memorial services for Nita Woolverton, 82, of Chandler, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 29, 2022, at Chandler Memorial Funeral Home with Bro. Lee Evans officiating.
Mrs. Woolverton passed away on October 19, 2022, in Chandler.
Nita Joyce (Flanagan) Woolverton was born on September 9, 1940, in Dallas County, Texas, the daughter of Clifford Flanagan and Crystal Juanita (Smith) Flanagan. She worked as a bookkeeper for businesses that she and her husband Dale owned and operated, which included Acme Auto Sales in Lubbock for 25 years, Woolverton Storage in the Sunrise Shores addition near Chandler and flipping real estate in the area. Nita attended West Lake Baptist Church and loved being part of the Girls of Grace Bible study. She was a member of the Sunrise Shores Women’s Club and was a Campfire leader for many years. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, was an avid bowler, loved her animals and was known as a loving, witty and wise woman whose class shone through her entire life.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dale Woolverton; children, Terry Woolverton, Glenn Woolverton; siblings, JoAnn James, C.W. Flanagan; grandson, Scotty Melot, and son-in-law Jack Woldert.
Survivors include children, Kim Melot of Gladwater, Dean Woolverton and wife Lisa of Chandler, Becky Woldert of Tyler, Melinda Woolverton of Lubbock, Donna Pierce and husband Jeff of Allen; sister, Sue Bounds of Mesquite; grandchildren, Larry Woolverton and wife Danielle, Tim Woolverton and wife Kendra, Joyce Melot, Justin Melot, Ben Ruiz and wife Danielle, Jessica Salensky and husband Jeff, Colby Woolverton, Kimper Pierce and 22 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105, or to Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd., Tyler, TX 75701.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Chandler Memorial Funeral Home family.
