Obituary for Joyce Husketh

Funeral services for Joyce Husketh, 84, of Tyler, are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 9, 2022, at Chandler Memorial Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Tyler Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Chandler Memorial Funeral Home.

Mrs. Husketh passed away on April 6, 2022, in Tyler.

Melba Joyce (Neel) Husketh was born March 3, 1938, in Troup, the daughter of William Delmer Neel and Verda (Arden) Neel. She graduated from Troup High School in 1956 and, shortly after that, married Gerald Husketh. Together they had three children- Michael, Gayla, and Kevin. She began work as a bank teller and, during her more than 50-year career, worked for Greenville Avenue Bank in Dallas, Southside Bank in Tyler, and Bank of America in Tyler. Joyce was a devoted and active member of the Assemblies of God denomination, most recently affiliated with the Calvary Assembly of God in Tyler. She was an accomplished musician who, throughout her life, sang in the family group- The Neel Family Singers and could play multiple instruments, most notably the bass guitar, which she last played on her 84th birthday. Joyce was also a talented artist, often painting ceramics and using the macrame technique to craft beautiful fiber art pieces. Her sweet spirit and caring nature will continue to resonate in the lives of those she leaves behind.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Gerald Husketh, son, Michael Husketh, and siblings, Mattie Bradford, Ruth Garrett, Ronnie Neel, and Lynn Neel.

Survivors include children, Gayla Canant and husband Clark of Flower Mound, Kevin Husketh and Jena of Tyler; daughter-in-law, Eileen Hustketh; brother, Glynn Neel and wife Donna of Lindale; sister-in-law, Judy Neel of Whitehouse; grandchildren, Jeff Husketh and wife Meghan, Amy Husketh and fiancé Cody Harris, Katie Canant, Colin Canant and wife August, Benjamin Canant and wife Eleanor, Kimberly Canant, Joshua Husketh, Jordan Husketh and fiancé Alex White, Emily Husketh; great-grandchildren, Abigail Harris, Oakley Canant, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jeff Husketh, Joshua Husketh, Colin Canant, Benjamin Canant and Jordan Husketh, Brandon Neel, and Larry Godwin. The honorary pallbearer will be Glynn Neel, Jr.

On Saturday, April 9, 2022, a visitation will be held from 10-11:00 a.m. at Chandler Memorial Funeral Home before the service.
