Obituary for Linda Rae Pumilio (Dupree)

Funeral services for Linda Pumilio, 84, of Brownsboro, are scheduled for 3:00 p.m., Saturday, January 1, 2022, at Rock Hill Baptist Church with Bro. Danny Bristow officiating. A private interment will be held at River Hills Farm under the direction of Chandler Memorial Funeral Home.

Mrs. Pumilio passed away on December 28, 2021, in Tyler.

The eldest of three daughters, Linda Rae (Dupree) Pumilio was born at her home in Coushatta, Louisiana on June 28, 1937, the daughter of Paxton Stephens Dupree and Reba Jane (Emerson) Dupree. She was born during the time of the Great Depression when there was no electricity, no running water, and no indoor plumbing. Linda met her husband, Albert, at the Louisiana State Fair in 1955 and they were married in Marshall, Texas on March 6, 1956. She was a devoted military wife from the very beginning. After the couple married, they were stationed in Elizabethtown, Kentucky where they welcomed their first child. Their second child was born in Shreveport, Louisiana, their third child was born in Bremerhaven, Germany, where they were stationed for two and a half years. Their fourth child was also born in Shreveport. During her husband's time in the Army, they lived in Kentucky, Texas, Georgia, New York, Louisiana, and Germany.

Linda was a true caregiver, spending many years in the Neonatal Unit of the Highland and Schumpert Hospitals as a nurse’s aide. She also worked at several daycare facilities and even opened the daycare at St. Pius Catholic Church in the early ’80s. Linda kept her grandchildren as well as other children at her home in Shreveport. In their later years, she cared for her father, mother, and husband.

Grandma, as she lovingly introduced herself, was an extremely welcoming person. If you were brought into the family by her people, that meant they loved you and by default, she did as well. In the last few years, she has experienced extreme joy following everyone on Facebook. It’s allowed her to connect with friends and family who she would not be able to any other way.
Linda loved the Lord with all her heart and would often say, “I just can’t wait until I can meet my Jesus!”. She was baptized in 1948 at a natural spring located near Liberty Baptist Church. She attended many different churches over her lifetime, but it didn’t matter which church it was, her faith in Jesus never wavered.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Albert J. Pumilio; brother-in-law, Dr. Jack Forrest, and great-grandson, Paxton Sanders.

Survivors include children, Rosemary Parmley of Brownsboro, Steve Pumilio and wife Lynne of Pine Mountain, California, Joey Pumilio and wife Shannon of Littleton, Colorado, John David Pumilio of Shreveport, Louisiana; sisters, Janie Madden and husband Buddy of Magnolia, Arkansas, Carolyn Forrest of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee; grandchildren, Chris Sanders and wife Christy, Ginnie Baldridge and husband Blake, Danielle Wright and husband Daniel, Blayne Sanders and wife Ashley, Nicholas Pumilio and wife Carrie, Jeffrey Pumilio and wife Maqui, Michael Pumilio and wife Stevie, Matthew Pumilio, Brian Pumilio, Brandi Stuhr, Victoria Pumilio; great-grandchildren, Harley Sanders and wife Haley, Tucker Sanders, Carson Baldridge, Sawyer Baldridge, Sydney Baldridge, Danton Wright, Deklan Wright, Layton Sanders, Lawson Sanders, Charlie Quinn Pumilio, Sera Pumilio, Logan Pumilio, McKenna Pumilio, Abigail Pumilio, Halee Stuhr, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
