Obituary for Jimmy Lee Nichols

Funeral services for Jimmy Nichols, 73, of Brownsboro, are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 22, 2022, at Chandler Memorial Funeral Home with Pastor Lou Dane officiating. Interment will follow at Echols Cemetery on Jennings Mountain under the direction of Chandler Memorial Funeral Home.

Mr. Nichols passed away January 16, 2022, in Tyler.

Jimmy Lee Nichols was born May 18, 1948, in Seagraves, the son of Orville Nichols and Sallie Rebecca (Hampton) Walker. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and worked as a supervisor with Petro Safety Services in Tyler for more than 15 years. Jimmy enjoyed spending time with his family, cooking, and watching movies. To those that love him, he will be remembered as a prankster whose quick-witted comments could make anyone smile, dependable, and the most generous man you’ll ever meet with a heart of gold.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Josephine Landtroop.

Survivors include wife of 40 years, Kay Nichols of Brownsboro; children, Mark Duncan and wife Holly of Roanoke, Kristi Perkins and husband Dale of Athens, Jamie Tidwell and husband Kelly of Chandler, Holly Rankin and husband Carl of Brownsboro, Mandi Nichols and husband Jonathon Barnes of Tyler; siblings, Mary Keller and husband Calvin of Tyler, Steve Nichols and wife Gail of Tyler, Deannie Walden of Emory, Callie Morgan of Chandler; 15 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jonathon Barnes, Carl Rankin, Kelly Tidwell, Austin Baker, Mark Duncan, and Jimmy Wheeler.

A visitation will be held Saturday, January 22, 2022, from 10-11:00 a.m. prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christians United for Israel.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home family.
