Obituary for Homer Leon Stokes

Homer Stokes, 87, of Whitehouse, passed away December 14, 2020 in Whitehouse. He will be laid to rest at Cathedral of the Pines Cemetery in Tyler under the direction of Chandler Memorial Funeral Home.

Homer Leon Stokes was born December 16, 1932 in Hawkins, Texas, the son of Alva Alton Stokes and Lora Emma (Hail) Stokes. He served in the United States Navy from 1950 to 1954 and worked for Delta Drilling Company for 28 years holding various management positions around the world. Homer was a member of the Whitehouse United Methodist Church and enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing golf and traveling.

He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Gary Stokes; daughter, Teresa Lynn (Stokes) Crow; three brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include brother, Johnnie Stokes and wife Danese of Chandler; daughter-in-law, Tina Stokes of Edom and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service will be announced at a later date.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Chandler Memorial Funeral Home family.
