Funeral services for Gordon Rhoads, 63, of Chandler, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at Lake Palestine United Methodist Church near Chandler with Reverend Ingrid Beguiristain officiating. Interment will follow at Chandler Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Chandler Memorial Funeral Home.
Gordon passed away October 27, 2022, in Tyler, Texas.
Gordon Lee Rhoads was born July 30 ,1959 in Grungy Center, Iowa the son of Donald Virgil Rhoads and Mary Jane (Draper) Rhoads. He was a charter member of the Lake Palestine United Methodist Church and known as an uplifting man. He graduated from Burkburnett High School in 1977 and from Texas State Technical Institute in Waco in 1979 as a diesel mechanic. Gordon worked for Halliburton for over 20 years and retired from American Equipment Company as a project support manager after more than 25 years. He loved classic rock, was an avid fan of dirt track racing and NASCAR. Gordon was a humble, selfless and loving husband, father and grandfather who will be missed by all he knew.
He is preceded in death by his father; his stepfather Dan Swindall; one grandson Cody Gammons and a step-son Gregory Turner.
Survivors include his loving wife Vera Rhoads of Chandler; his mother Mary Swindall of Wichita Falls; three children, Linda Booker and husband Phillip of Jacksonville, Jennifer Fields and husband Wesley of Chandler, Krysta Bunch of Chandler; two sisters, Stephanie Rhoads of Wichita Falls, Brenda Shalanski and husband Charles of Fairbanks, Alaska; grandchildren, Kyle Newman and wife Heather, Aarika Newman and wife Jordan, Alexis Booker, Jayce Prejean and husband Ryan, Kolby Fields and wife Courtney, Meranda Dosser, Bryce Lackey, Cohen Bunch, Kinslee Bunch; great grandchildren, Ethan Rinehart, Brooklyn Rinehart, London Rinehart, Aubrey Tidwell, Grayson Newman, Ava Pouliasis, Easton Prejean, Lane Prejean, Adalynn Prejean, Miah Fields, Mason Fields, Samuel Fields, Lauryn Fields, and Zaiden Estes.
Serving as pallbearers will be Wesley Fields, Ryan Prejean, Chase Bunch, Bryce Lackey, Kyle Newman, and Phillip Booker.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Chandler Memorial Funeral Home family.
