Obituary for Franklin Aubrey Burns

A Celebration of the Life for Franklin Burns, 85, of Chandler, is scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 11, 2022, at the Chandler First Assembly of God.

Mr. Burns passed away February 1, 2022, in Tyler.

Franklin Aubrey Burns was born December 14, 1936, in Jacksonville, Florida, the son of Luther Lonzo Burns and Maude (Eson) Burns. He served in the United States Army from June 28, 1955, until April 11, 1957, obtaining the rank of SP3 before transferring to the Army Reserve. Franklin was affiliated with the City Life Church of Portsmouth, England, and served as a missionary evangelist all over the world. He enjoyed teaching and studying the bible, going to Starbucks, and working on cars (he even worked as a diesel mechanic in Alaska at one time). Known as “Da” to his grandchildren, he was a family man who enjoyed surrounding himself with those he loved. His remarkable legacy as a son, husband, father, and grandfather will live on in the lives of those he leaves behind.

He was preceded in death by his parents and ten brothers and sisters.

Survivors include wife, Doris Burns of Chandler; children, Wynelle Cowdery and husband Paul of Portsmouth, England, Sharon Gutierrez of Chandler; sister, Shirley Stanley of Granbury; grandchildren, Angelica Burns-White, Gabriella Stanford, Joshua Gutierrez; great-grandson, Lucas Blake Stanford and bonus family, Chris Gutierrez, George White, Kristopher Stampley and Stephen Stanford.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Chandler Memorial Funeral Home family.
