Obituary for Eli Simmons
Funeral Services for Eli Simmons,76 of Chandler are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at Chandler Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Rock Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Simmons passed away on June 29, 2019 at Hospice Homeplace in Tyler.
He was born September 15, 1942 in Athens, Texas to the late Clinton Mack and Eunice Vera Holiman Simmons. Eli was a member of the baptist Faith. He owned his construction company before retirement and was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and was referred to as “Pawpaw” by all. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him. Eli was unselfish and helped everyone that he could. He loved to play jokes on everyone.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Frances Simmons in 2013; daughter, Glenda Mae Wallace in 2005.
Eli is survived by his daughters, Mary Saunders and her husband Kenneth of Chandler, Tammy DeWitt and her husband Edward of Overton and Brenda Myers and her husband Brian of LaRue; six grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren and his beloved dog Sugar.
Visitation will be held Tuesday July 2, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hospice of East Texas Foundation, 4111 University Blvd., Tyler, TX 75701.
