Obituary for David Melton Richards
Funeral Services for David Richards, 90, of Chandler are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 1, 2020 at Chandler Memorial Funeral Home in Chandler, Texas with Pastor Bob Sexton officiating.
Mr. Richards passed away on September 26, 2020 in Tyler.
David Melton Richards was born July 28, 1930 in Frankston, Texas the son of Clyde Green Richards and Bevie Corrine Fisher Richards. He was Honorably discharged from the US Navy in 1954. He was a member of the St. John Masonic Lodge in Tyler and worked as an inspector and engineer tech with Tx DOT for over 27 years. David enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading and doing crossword puzzles. He enjoyed listening to country music and loved to play the mandolin, fiddle and guitar in a band with a group of his buddies. He will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter Nina Richards; two brothers, Don Richards and Darrell Richards and a sister Betty Lewis.
David is survived by his loving wife of 66 years Vera Jo Richards of Chandler; one sister Cherilyn Richards of Kansas City, Missouri; two grandchildren, Jason Holloway and wife Maureen of Alexandria, Virginia and Lesley Holloway Kearney and husband Jacob of Dallas; six great grandchildren, Chloe Holloway, Grace Holloway, Madden Holloway, Claire Holloway, Beckham Kearney, Crew Kearney; numerous nieces and nephews.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be his nephews.
Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10-11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 1, 2020 at Chandler Memorial Funeral Home.
