Obituary for DeLoris Dickson

A Celebration of Life for DeLoris Dickson, 79, of Brownsboro, is scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 12, 2022, at Willowbrook Church, 3100 W Erwin St., Tyler, Texas 75702 with Bro. Lloyd McCaskill and Bro. Bob Logan officiating.

Mrs. Dickson passed away on February 11, 2022, in Brownsboro.

Bettye DeLoris (Tompkins) Dickson was born October 10, 1942, in Athens, Texas, the daughter of Arthur Wiley Tompkins, Jr. and Johnnie Corinne (Trammell) Tompkins. She married Billy Jack Dickson on September 21, 1959 and graduated from Jacksonville High School in 1960. DeLoris and Billy Jack were longtime members of Willowbrook Church in Tyler. She worked as a secretary in administration for both the Tyler Independent School District (the late '60s until the mid ’80s) and the Brownsboro Independent School District (2000-2008). She was the second runner up of the Mrs. East Texas USA in 1987. DeLoris was a talented seamstress and enjoyed crocheting and making jewelry. She was a social butterfly who made everyone she encountered feel loved. Those that called her “Nanny”, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, brought an immeasurable amount of joy to her life. Her remarkable legacy as a wife, mother, Nanny, sister, and friend will leave a lasting impact on those she knew and loved.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include husband of 62 years, Billy Jack Dickson of Brownsboro; daughters, Stephanie Woodham and husband Larry of Tyler, Kelly Bagby and husband Bill of Chandler; sisters, Sandy Minter of Jacksonville, Charlotte Parker and husband Randy of Brownsboro, Sherry Holloway and husband Billy of Athens; grandchildren, Leah Bishop and husband Steven, Jennifer Redfern and husband Brandon, DeAnne Rogers, Lawrence Woodham, Jr., Jamie Micheaux and husband Anthony, Shelbie Bagby and fiancé Keane Allen, Macy Bagby; great-grandchildren, Kolby Bishop, MaKayla Bishop, Konner Bishop, Kamdyn Bishop, Landon Woodham, Brantley Redfern, Harper Redfern, Aislyn Rogers, Haylin Rogers, Caiden Micheaux, Kinsley Micheaux, and Landrey Chapman.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Chandler Memorial Funeral Home family.
