Obituary

Graveside services to celebrate the sweet life of Anita Gregory Stone, 66, of Chandler, are scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Friday, February 28, 2020 at Concord Cemetery.

Anita went to be with her Lord Jesus on February 24, 2020 at her home in Chandler with her husband, Michael, by her side.

Anita Gregory Stone was born December 12, 1953 in Orange County, California, the daughter of John and Marilyn Martin. Along with their four children, they moved to Tyler where Anita met Michael Andrew Stone at the age of 16. They quickly fell in love and married on May 14, 1977 at the age of 23. They were married for nearly 43 years.

Anita was a member of Rose Center-Cornerstone Assembly of God in Tyler for 55 years where she sang in the church choir for many years. The choir, which was called ‘God’s Choir’, recorded an album of gospel songs which sold quite a few copies. She loved Jesus and loved to collect pictures of Jesus. She also collected statues and whatnots of Jesus and angels. Anita loved listening to her gospel tapes; they helped her relax and made her feel good. She also loved waiting on and taking care of her husband.

After graduation from John Tyler High School in 1972, Anita worked all her life and later retired from the Broadway Walmart at 64 years of age. After she retired, she replied, “I hope that there’s no Walmart in Heaven.” She looked forward to going to the Mansion in the sky to be with her loved ones and to be healthy again.

Anita was always responsible: never missed church, never missed work and never missed paying her bills. She never did any negative deeds, nor did she mistreat anyone. She had much love for her family and friends. She was loved and admired in return for her trustworthiness and strong faith in the Lord. She is greatly missed.

Anita was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, John and Steve Gregory; and her niece, Christy Baker.

Survivors include husband, Michael Stone; sister, Jackie Baker and husband Tommy and their son, James.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Chandler Memorial Funeral Home family.
